Located at the back of a quiet residential area, Sarasota Jungle Gardens is a little slice of paradise. The grounds are lush with native plants and gorgeous palms. There are endless walking trails that wind through the animal exhibits and beautiful landscape. Kids will love the kiddie play area, and can even enjoy a pony ride for just a few dollars (a couple of extra bucks will get you a photo, too). There’s a small cafe with basic foods and a gift shop with animal-themed clothes and knick-knacks. You’ll love the amazing exotic parrots, alligators, crocs, birds of prey, turtles, and even a few monkeys. Be sure to take in one of the educational shows as well. Sarasota Jungle Gardens offers you a chance to escape from the noise and clutter of city living. It’s just $12 for adults, $11 for seniors over 62, and just $8 for kids– a great bargain for a bit of heaven. We used our Entertainment Book for a buy one, get one free admission. Nice deal!

St. Armand’s is on Lido Key, and the entire circle is full of unique shops, excellent restaurants, and some of the best people-watching in town. You can go casual for an inexpensive dinner at Cha Cha Coconuts and some ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s or one of the smaller, independent ice cream stops. Then take a walk and do some free window shopping. Or, get snazzed up and drop a pretty penny at Cafe L’Europe, then head up to the Straight Up Nightclub at 15 South Ristorante Enoteca to cut a rug with your sweetheart. St. Armand’s is great for families, lovers, and friends alike.
