Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, an annual spring break tradition in the Tampa Bay area, will again serve as the opening race for the Verizon IndyCar Series season for an eighth consecutive year. Both the drivers and fans will have an increased level of anticipation for the start of this season. The temporary St. Petersburg circuit will debut the new, sleeker Indy car aerodynamic body kits into competition. Reminiscent of and inspired by the popular open-wheel cars from the early 1990s, it is a more aggressive-looking Indy car designed to be bolder, safer and even more thrilling to watch.

The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is run on a 1.8-mile, 14-turn waterfront circuit that includes a combination of adjacent downtown streets circling Pioneer Park, the Duke Energy Center for the Arts, The Dali Museum and extending onto the runways at Albert Whitted Airport, which overlook the Tampa Bay and picturesque St. Petersburg Harbor and Marina.
